Educating and informing the general public about Sickle Cell Anemia, Sickle Cell Trait, and other hemoglobinopathies is a high priority goal of the foundation and is done by our on-staff Certified Educator. Sickle Cell Anemia is one of the most common chronic illnesses of children, yet little know amongst the general and at-risk population. The Foundation encourages disease prevention by participating in a Wellness Clinic conducted once per month for children with Sickle Cell conditions through a cooperative with the University of Alabama - Birmingham (U.A.B.) Clinic.
